Indi Kids Has Us Feeling Blue about Holiday Family Photos in all the Right Ways
- Lauren Miura
…this your stress-free holiday photo shoot outfit guide for the kids. We’ve got you covered with some of our favorite color-coordinated outfit inspo for the littles, and in our new favorite color...indigo.
We love indi’s signature deep blue hues for a twist on the classic red and green holiday palette. Consider their plaid pieces like the hand woven Matty shirt, or the Nova tee. Pair either with the Nico 5 Pocket jean for a casual and coordinated family look, and voilà...say cheese!
For indi designer and founder, Matt Aprile, indigo is more than a color. It’s a vehicle for creating change within the fashion industry. Each garment is hand-made by artisans using natural indigo dye. Pieces are wearable works of art, rich in detail and thoughtfully constructed for active little ones.
…was inspired to launch the brand after having kids of his own. A 15-year career in fashion had frequently brought him to factories in countries where labor costs are low and poverty is high. “Seeing chemicals in the gutters and polluted rivers forced me to think about how the industry was impacting the lives of the children living in communities around the factories and beyond, not to mention what was going into the clothing that our children are wearing,” Aprile said.
Indi is the manifestation of Aprile’s desire to heal some of the wounds inflicted by fast fashion. The pieces are constructed with organic yarns and fabrics, and natural dyes to reduce pollution. Indi re-invests 20% of the cost of every garment it produces into children’s education and empowerment programs. And, by working directly with artisans, the company can eliminate middlemen and pay fair wages to the people making the clothing.
Knowing what indi stands for, the whole family has even more reason to smile for that camera.
