Oh What a Night! The Cause Bar Winter Dinner

- Kristiana Tarnuzzer

…once told me that when you’re crazy enough to start your own thing, you will have very few opportunities to stop, breathe, recognize, and reflect on memorable milestones and moments.  They weren’t kidding.  I am forever grateful for the evening of 12/12/18, as it provided me the opportunity to do so when we hosted our first event, The Cause Bar Winter Dinner.

Hosted at the picturesque home of two very dear friends, The Cause Bar hosted an intimate winter holiday dinner celebrating an amazing team brought on board this year, and the 1st phase of the brand rolled out in 2018.

Surreal is not often a word I use to describe many things, but this evening was just that.  To look around at a room full of some of the most inspirational, incredibly passionate, compassionate human beings one could know, all gathered in support of The Cause Bar’s mission and cause of empowering a social good lifestyle, a dream of mine now turned reality…well, it was surreal.

…holidays have always been a nostalgic time for me, and I imagine so for many.  They bring memories, the excitement of a child, gatherings with closest family and friends, reflection of the year past, and anticipation for the year ahead…so this felt the perfect time to celebrate.

Holiday décor was hung, the tree was trimmed, music played, the wine flowed, and seasonal garland with fresh fruit and berries lined a table set for 25.  Generously donated items by social impact brands near and dear to my heart included rafia "peace" baskets placed at guests’ table setting from Indego Africa, a 501c3 empowering female artisans in Rwanda and Ghana.  Let’s face it - - whether it’s the chaos of the holidays, LA traffic, or, if you’re like me, hearing “Mama! Mama! Mama!” several times a day in your ear, we felt it appropriate to provide everyone with a small gesture of peace going into 2019.

…carafes and thank you gifts were provided by Bib & Sola, a brand on a mission of fighting plastic pollution through beautifully designed glassware pieces.  On the wrapped gifts to take home for the evening were seasonally appropriate handmade holiday ornaments provided by Imani Collective, a brand working tirelessly to break the generational cycle of poverty by employing artisans in Kenya.  Cream linens beautifully balanced the deep vintage holiday color theme, and were provided by locally based Paradise People, a gorgeous textile brand that collaborates with artisan weavers in Mexico.

At one point, in the middle of an impeccable dinner, while the laughter and conversation which could be heard for miles and miles, I did stop to take it all in and I’m so glad I did…and it was breathtaking.  I am still beaming from the warmth and energy that filled the room, looking around at an incredible group that started the night as strangers, leaving as new friends with a shared mission.

My vision is to unleash all of the untapped good there is to be had across all 365 days per year by feeling connected, equipped and inspired to do so through The Cause Bar.  I’m so incredibly excited about the discussions and ideas around where The Cause Bar is headed to make this big vision a reality.
